    Dreamy Newport Beach Engagement Session

This dreamy, Newport Beach engagement session was such a fun experience for me! Emily and I go way back to Fresno State where we both worked towards our creative degrees. She was interior design and I, graphic. I had followed Emily’s story on social media since college and I knew that she had moved to Texas. She went with her fiance, retired baseball player Mike Mariot, when he relocated for his job. However, I knew she came back to California periodically. So when I heard that she and her fiance were coming to visit Newport I decided I had to photograph them. So I messaged Emily on Instagram and she enthusiastically agreed to a date!

    Racing Against the Sunset

So I made it to Newport and checked into my hotel, then raced down to the Pacific Coast Highway to find the perfect spot on the beach. It wasn’t the easiest to find a secluded spot along this very busy highway and I almost started panicking. Thankfully Emily suggested we shoot on the beach in front of the apartment she and Mike used to live in and it couldn’t have been more dreamy! The sand was white and the water was blue. We shot for about an hour and a half and laughed as Hank, their French Bulldog, chased the reflections of my lens across the sand. The sunset finally caught up to us so we finished up and headed out to dinner.

I Finally Had Fish Tacos and They Were Amazing

Emily and Mike suggested this amazing place called Bear Flag Fish Co that had the best fish tacos. It was a quaint little spot that they shared with me they often frequented during their time in Newport. The two had met back in Fresno County and relocated to Newport for Emily’s job. Then as Mike relocated to Texas for baseball, Emily followed and the rest was history. I loved hearing about their plans for the future between bites of tacos and butt scratches for Hank. It was a lovely adventure and it’s exactly how I desire for every engagement session to go! It’s the human connection and friendship that I crave the most, leaving the beautiful photographs as icing on the cake.
